How big is this event? Is it walkable in say 3-4 hours or so? I’m used to the (sucky) Philly show, and can usually do that one in like 2 hours tops.

And finally, is it worth bringing a camera to? I’ll have my potato on me would that be enough or should I bring the DSLR?

It always feels smaller than I think it’ll be. It’s not small by any means, just not quite as huge as you’d think. 3-4 hours is plenty.

I don’t know about a camera though; the lighting there makes nice pictures difficult with a phone camera, so maybe a DSLR isn’t the worst idea.

It’s pretty big. You can definitely spend more than 4 hours there if you dawdle at your favorite manufacturer or whatever. I usually just bring my phone as its easier to snap a quick pic in a crowd.

I’ve been to NYIAS and I’ve seen videos of the Philly one, and NYIAS is definitely a lot bigger than Philly. Regarding time, YMMV, but I usually stay for 5-6 hours.

I’ve always brought my DSLR. This year I’ll be bringing my ettl flash triggers and my daughter will be helping. The lighting seems to get worse every year as camera technology available for cheap gets better.

I gave my daughter my old Rebel XS and a 10-22 f3.5 lens last year. She took some great shots. She was 9 at the time. It was a great lesson in framing and composition whilst in the middle of disreacted people with no regard to their surroundings.

Yeah, nothing is that important to me. Plus, I’ll go on a Wednesday so theoretically it should be less crowded.

If you take your time and really look at the cars that interest you, 4-6 hours will be all of the main floor, downstairs and their side area that GM has been set-up recently.

I highly recommend NOT going on a weekend. During the week you have a decent number of people...but the weekends are a madhouse and it sucks!

I’m hoping to go to NYIAS for the first time this year now that I live within reasonable distance. I’m curious if it’s worth it after going to the DC auto show as well.
